Mac OS X 10.8.5 Mountain Lion bootable USB for Intel PCs

Recommended Posts

Of course there's no boot1h on the USB, that's why I'm telling you to copy it from /usr/standalone/i386 to the USB.

Hello,

are you booting from USB? Clover or Chameleon?

Try forcing another SMBIOS, a more recent model which is supported by Mountain Lion.

What do you mean by "Try forcing another SMBIOS, a more recent model which is supported by Mountain Lion." Can you explain more, please.

I have problem (after choosing first option at Clover screen):

"This version of MAC OS X is not supported on this platform.

Reason: Mac F22788A9"

Many thanks.

Use Chameleon instead of Clover (press 1 during boot) and put this file in /Extra using TransMac (rename it to smbios.plist)

I'm not sure what all I am doing incorrectly, let me first off say that I am not experience what so ever with this sort of thing. I am looking to be able to have a dual boot machine, i have currently windows installed and am wanting to install Mountain Lion onto my system also. I downloaded the .raw file for Mountain Lion and used SUSE Studio Image Writer to put it onto a 8 GB USB stick, and then booted from the usb stick. I was then put back into windows (I am assuming that nothing happened with it, so it went to the next device down the list to boot from). Now i have no idea why it did nothing is my problem. I could be stupid and missed out on some of the instructions, or perhaps something isn't listed in the instructions that I need to do. I didnt mess with anything the the BIOS because the instructions said nothing about that, so maybe I need to do that. Anyways my specs for my computer happen to be the following. CPU: i7 3770k , GPU: PNY GTX 660 Ti , MOBO: Gigabyte GA-Z77-DS3H , and I also have Corsair Vengance 8 GB 1600 MHz but I'm not sure that really factors into this or not. Anyways if anyone could help me, I would appreciate it a ton!

I cannot get to even detect that my usb is a bootable device, it just skips over it. I disabled booting from everything else even and it said that I had to insert something i could boot from. This is all before and after changing my hd to AHCI. I also tried booting into chameleon and I could not get anything to happen. I'm not sure what is wrong, I am assuming something needs to be changed in my BIOS or that i need to do something differently with my USB but I of course have no idea.

Try using legacy boot, it won't work in UEFI boot. You'll still be able to UEFI boot this install later using Clover.
