Had a custom DSDT made a while back on this board and works fine with Mojave 10.14.6.

Been trying to upgrade it to Catalina if possible. Downloaded the install file from the AppStore and it installed but having issues with the laptop.

 

Any help would be appreciated. The Runme.app will not run. Keeps retrying on IOREG Dump for some reason.

 

What is working:

Ethernet works.

Hit FN+F6 and webcam comes up.

 

What is not working:

Cannot boot without USB drive

Sound

Wireless/Bluetooth

Intel HD 4600 graphics

Trackpad and laptop keyboard (having to use a USB mouse and keyboard)

Finally managed to install!! Merging a bunch of different clover folders and trying so many options in clover configurator...
This olarila image really helped me! Im so glad I found this board, thank you very much!

I tried updating the clover but every one I try keeps telling me that cannot be installed and gives me the option to try it anyways. And that never works.

Also which kexts need to be updated? I have tried finding new versions of Lilu, AppleALC, Whatevergreen, the Broadcom one, etc and still have same issue.

It gives me this error:

Then gives me the option to Quit or Install Anyway. Install Anyway doesn't work either.

 

NO matter what I do I can't get this to work. I have done a backup of the working Mojave numerous times and tried using the backup to get Catalina to work with no luck at all. So frustrating.

I couldn't attach anything so had to up them to another site. These are the bootleg and the EFI folder.

 

I did try installing Clover 5103 and it gave me the same error about incompatible. tried installing it anyways and no difference.

I'm trying to boot the installer using the High Sierra image provided on the following platform:

• Asus Maximus VIII Gene
• i7 6700k
• Nvidia GTX 980ti

It's known to work, and I provided my own SSDT for the cpu (one of the many attempts at getting it to work). I am getting stuck at "kextd stall: AppleACPICPU". FakeSMC should be working, I get the "DMOS has arrived" message correctly.

I don't have access to a working mac install to try and copy the AppleACPIPlatform.kext  suggested in various forums. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this? I tried setting the SMBIOS to MacBookPro11.1 as well, but it didn't help either.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Hey MaLd0n,

thanks for replying so soon! The installer went through after 20 minutes, I was able to boot into it and then install the OS. What wasn't clear from the instructions is that I needed to prepare the installer with the EFI folders for the specific chipset in my case I needed to put the kexts from from the 100/200/300 intel chipset series! Once I did that booting from the image is fast and almost everything worked (I needed to copy the IntelMausi.kext from the default image over with the other ones).

I have only one problem now, when I'm installing I have no option to select the APFS filesystem and guid type (only Apple extended..), the result is that once the system is installed I don't get an EFI partition on the target install hard drive, guess I need to figure this out now!

Full recap of the troubles I've had and how they were fixed, so that they may help other people in the future:

[ Hardware configuration ]

• Asus Maximus Gene VIII
• Intel i7 6700k
• Nvidia GTX 980ti

[ Install process ]

Starting from the High Sierra image download and booting it, encountered the following issues:

• [ long boot time ] AppleACPICPU kextd stalls (up to ~16 minutes) but eventually gets into the installer. The solution is download the appropriate clover folders for the z170 chipset (https://www.olarila.com/files/Clover.Folder/CLOVER.SERIES.100.200.300.zip). These contain the correct kexts, ssdt and dsdt for the system to at least boot up, replace the entire contents of the EFI partition with these (I used diskpart to mount it and explorer++ on windows make these changes to the EFI partition in the usb disk).
• [ no ethernet ] Once you've installed the system and booted from the hard drive with the usb loader the network driver is not working. The solution is to keep the IntelMausi.kext from the install image clover folder, the IntelMausiEthernet.kext from the above zip file somehow does not work with the chip in our motherboard.
• [ no EFI partition on the install hard drive ] The pictures in the install guide were clear, but I missed this, if you don't have the option to choose "APFS" and "GUID" in disk utility you need to toggle the "show all .." option. If you install using the "Apple extended (journaled)" filesystem you will be doing an MBR install that cannot support UEFI. Don't be like me and read the guide properly
• [ nvidia drivers not working ] Use the "Webdriver All Versions" application to install the nvidia drivers (they need to be patched because they refuse to install unless you have a specific version of the operating system installed, which you won't) and get the latest version available. Once they are installed you'll see the Nvidia logo in the menu bar. After a reboot click the icon and select "NVIDIA Web Driver" instead of the Default mac os driver. Another reboot and you should be good to go.

Overall this was a relatively painless experience and everything works! Hope these few extra info can help others save some time :)

Problems found:

- Volume slider lags when using AppleALC kext (tried layout id 1,11,99)

- Audio popping / crackling when using Safari, Boom 3D, Logic Pro X, etc.

This happens to all of my output devices, eg. onboard ALC887, USB Audio Interface, USB Mixer...

- When recording in Logic Pro X using USB Audio Interface, there will always be popping noise on the track.

- AirDrop works but Handoff doesn't work (Is it because of Bluetooth connected using internal USB header?)

Thanks a lot! now my volume slider lagging and audio popping problems have gone, and handoff is starting to work (icon now appears on the dock)

But I still have one minor problem which I don't really care about, but it would be great to be fixed:

my mac is using hardware acceleration from Intel HD Graphics 530 instead of Radeon RX 480

is there any way to fix this?

Followed this Guide for Mojave and being my first hackintosh, install worked well so far.

The issue i have is for Catalina. Using Clover Configurator - Mount EFI - Mount and Open partition for the EFI partion of disk0s1(which is the attached SSD), unlike the Mojave install, the folder is blank and i am unable to overwrite with the Clover EFI as i did successfully on the Mojave install.
