Installation

Boot the HackBoot CD

MaLd0n_2011_02_23_a__s_23_35_47.png.88d865177f0f591846eaf4426fda3a44.png

Remove the CD, insert Snow Leopard DVD, wait a few seconds and press F5, then select the DVD and press Enter.

After booting the DVD and selecting your language, wait for the "Install Mac OS X" screen. Go to menu "Utilities --> Disk Utility‚ÄĚ, select the HD you want to format and click the "Partition" tab. In the "Volume Scheme" combo, choose how many partitions you want. Below, in "Options", choose "GUID", then select "Mac Os Extended (Journaled)", click the apply button and wait.

guidb.jpg.f4d606fa2619d5440ec4bbf4b3fb5638.jpg

With this process done, close Disk Utility.

Select the destination HD and go on with the installation.

After the installation, boot using HackBoot again.

The system is running but it needs HackBoot to start, so we have to install the boot loader (Chameleon), the essential kexts and the patched DSDT.

Post installation

1- Copy the Extra folder to your boot partition

Important: for versions 2.0 GM and 2.1 of Chameleon, the file com.apple.Boot.plist must be renamed to org.chameleon.Boot.plist

2- Install Chameleon (in Snow Leopard or EFI partition)

3- Run DSDT Auto-Patcher and copy the generated DSDT to the Extra folder

4- Update the system to 10.6.7

Restart using -v (boot verbose)

Vanilla power management (SpeedStep) and Restart fix Use Chameleon

Added in boot.plist

<key>GeneratePStates</key>
<string>Yes</string>
<key>GenerateCStates</key>
<string>Yes</string>

Can anyone help with this...

I have an Asus mobo, Striker Extreme Nvidia 680i Chipset.

Will this work for me? I notice my mobo isnt on the list at the top.

It does not support ACHI, and i cant get SATA HDD's to appear in Disk Utility for installation.

Thanks

Wow, thanks for that! Ok so I did the steps above, and rebooted in -v mode, but I get a 'still waiting for root device' error, and it doesn't boot.

However, when I boot using the bootcd, it does boot.

Any ideas?

Thanks again!

You need to install the ATA drivers (AppleNForceATA?)

Use System Info to check the kext in use when you boot with the CD

Drag the kext into /System/Library/Extensions and run Kext Utility

http://cvad-mac.narod2.ru/Kext_Utility/

For audio use VoodooHDA (remove AppleHDA to avoid possible kernel panic)

http://code.google.com/p/voodoohda/downloads/list

For video install Fermi driver (requires 10.6.5 or later) and use GraphicsEnabler=Yes

Okay, got sound working.

Still get 'waiting for root device' error when booting from HDD. Do I need to reinstall Chameleon?

And those graphics drivers are no good - says unsupported.

No, just install the kext and run Kext Utility.

And those graphics drivers are no good - says unsupported.

- copy mpkg to desktop

- show package contents

- edit distribution.dist
