No audio from board's sound card with AppleALC

AppleALC v1.4.1

Lilu v1.3.8

CodecCommander v2.7.1

Lilu and AppleALC are both installed in /EFI/CLOVER/kexts/Other

My board uses ALC1150

I tried all layouts as boot args, none of them worked

Any pointers please?

You should be able to see the intended layout id is successfully injected using ioreg (whether or not audio is working). Can you confirm?

In this example, layout id 1 is injected. Do note in ioreg the id is shown as HEX.

indeed you are trying to inject layout id 1. But what does ioreg show?

I went for layout id 2, both as a boot arg and in devices > audio > inject

It shows as injected in ioreg, so like you said it's not the issue

Any idea where to look? MaLd0n did mention an edited codeccommander for ALC1150 but I can't find it here or elsewhere.

[ref]noisegate[/ref], As the saying goes, use latest Lilu and AppleALC kexts. Where do you install the kexts? Clover/kexts/other or L/E?

Dont worry. If you are certain you are had not modified native AppleHDA, you are in the right track with Lilu and AppleALC in Clover.

All I hear are small clicks and pops when I play a file. Same config as what used to work on previous versions of MacOS. Weird...

Right, was from Sierra but I installed Mojave over it, maybe I can find what version it was, I'll check.

Yes I'm looking already but unless I'm mistaken, no information is given regarding the corresponding version of MacOS

What bothers me is many people have ALC1150 work with Mojave and I can't replicate what seems to work elsewhere

Just pick a release and test. Kext will work from El Capitan and above

When it comes to major update, a good practice to fresh install Mojave by reformat of SSD rather than upgrade from Sierra by overriding.
