Installation

Boot the HackBoot CD

MaLd0n_2011_02_23_a__s_23_35_47.png.a8291083e52d59b3eea50d3e48d967aa.png

Remove the CD, insert Snow Leopard DVD, wait a few seconds and press F5, then select the DVD and press Enter.

After booting the DVD and selecting your language, wait for the "Install Mac OS X" screen. Go to menu "Utilities --> Disk Utility‚ÄĚ, select the HD you want to format and click the "Partition" tab. In the "Volume Scheme" combo, choose how many partitions you want. Below, in "Options", choose "GUID", then select "Mac Os Extended (Journaled)", click the apply button and wait.

guidb.jpg.8603f83e739941f4c063d93f2871f24b.jpg

With this process done, close Disk Utility.

Select the destination HD and go on with the installation.

After the installation, boot using HackBoot again.

The system is running but it needs HackBoot to start, so we have to install the boot loader (Chameleon), the essential kexts and the patched DSDT.

Post installation

1- Copy the Extra folder to your boot partition

Important: for versions 2.0 GM and 2.1 of Chameleon, the file com.apple.Boot.plist must be renamed to org.chameleon.Boot.plist

2- Install Chameleon (in Snow Leopard or EFI partition)

3- Run DSDT Auto-Patcher and copy the generated DSDT to the Extra folder

4- Update the system to 10.6.7

Restart using -v (boot verbose)

Vanilla power management (SpeedStep) and Restart fix Use Chameleon

Thanks for the installation instructions!

Regardless the DSDT file created with autopatcher for my Gigabyte GA 965P-DS4 F13b

I still have Kernel Panic (see attachment)

Enclosed my ACPI.bin file created with everest.

Can someone please help me with that?

Thank You

windstar

It's not DSDT, it's VoodooHDA that causes the Kernel Panic...

Remove AppleHDA or use AppleHDADisabler...

Thank You for the answer.

Think I did a big mistake and deleted the content from the /Extra/ folder.

Now i get this kernel panic (ACPI) even when I try to boot from the CD.

Any chance to save the SL installation or must i restart from the scratch?

Hi MaLd0n,

i tried your installations guide except i used the iboot cd instead of the hack one. After i installed 10.6.7 update and restarted in verbose mode i got a kernal panic. So i rebooted with the iboot cd and it went thru.

Then i used the multishit with the options klicked as seen in the attached files. Both combinations didn't work.

Before a tried a fresh installation using the 10.6.8 update, but it paniced right before it went thru all the way. So i rebooted and ran the update again, and this time it went all the way.

In another try using the iboot + multishit method ( see attachments too )i had the same problem with 10.6.8 comboupdate. But it worked after i ran the update a second time. But the boottime was really slow. So i used the -v to see where it hang and showed me something like

LPC device initialization failed: C-state power management not initialized

If i could solve this issue it would be really great.

So if you have any conclusion how to fix these problems i would be very thankful.

I used the autopatcher for all my tries

My System specs are:

Gigabyte Z68AP-D3

2500k

ati 4870 512 mb

Maybe you installed any nVidia injector kext or NVClockX (kext to monitor nVidia clock and temperature)?

If you have an ATI card, remove NVClockX, it's for nVidia only. It may not be the problem, but we never know.

You can use TransMac if you have Windows in this PC, or single user (boot with -s)

mount -uw /
rm -r /System/Library/Extensions/AppleHDA.kext
exit

So

my GTX is Ok right now :)

But about my ALC889 i used a voodooHDA.kext that i puted with kext utility

edit:

I tried: voodooHDA, Legacy889HDA, and ALC8xxHDA: nothing is ok

it appears on "about this mac" that the 889 is recognized but i don't have the optical ok! :(

ps: i tried to inject them with kext helper, kext utility and OSX86 tools

Ps2/ I think that if i use AppleHDA it will functiun BUT the pb is that i will have a kernel panic with voodooHDA on the boot, is it possible to delete voodooHDA and using AppleHDA???

do u have any suggestions?

many thx

edit2: after many tries, i have now the sound but not the optical output :(
