Jswoods4
I have a ASUS Z-97-PRO motherboard, i7-4790 CPU (I think it is Haswell) and a GTX 760 GPU. (16 GB of RAM) What is the latest version that is reasonable to install for this hardware? I did take a shot at downloading Big Sur and I attempted to install it. However, it stops at this screen (See attachment)JSWoods4.7z

Jswoods4
It appears to be Kepler: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 I have followed your guide in your link. - I created the flash stick using Rufus It boots, and I see the 3 options (Install macOS Big Sur; Toggle SIP (Disabled); Reset NVRAM) I chose the FIRST choice (with the bitten apple) It appears not to complete. So, the next question is why can I not get your Vanilla Big Sur to boot? Here is the screen dump.. Can you help me here? JSWoods4.7z

Jswoods4
OK, I switched out the EFI folder on the EFI partition on the boot USB using the tools suggested (MiniTool & Explorer) It looks like it helped, but it stalls again further down. JSWoods4-2.7z What is next? Thanks!

Jswoods4
u used haswell folder? - I used the folder called EFI in the EFI.Opencore.Desktop.Haswell.Broadwell.zip ZIP file that was linked in your previous post to me. deleted old efi and paste new with no merge? - Confirmed. Used MiniTool Partition Wizard on my original USB EFI partition, mapped drive letter Z:, then used Explorer++ to delete the original EFI folder on the USB and replace it with the EFI folder from the EFI.Opencore.Desktop.Haswell.Broadwell.zip ZIP file you linked to me. no Drag and Drop into EFI partition? - Not sure, but I tried to follow your instructions from  I will try again from scratch and see if that makes a difference. Thank you for your patience.. Jswoods4
OK,  Tried it again.... I must have made a mistake earlier, all seems to run as it should (so far) I have gone into disk utility and erased my target SSD (GUID & APFS) I am installing onto that SSD right now. Will let you know if I get into a snag again. Thanks for your help. I made another $10 donation for your time. OK, I did the Disk Utility and followed your instructions to format GUID and APFS. I then began the installation of macOS Big Sur When it says that there is about 12 minutes remaining, I get "An error occurred loading the update." I have snapped a picture of the installer log.JSWoods4-4.7z It appears that a volume is not formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled), but I did not see that in your steps to format the drive. I thought that "Erasing" the drive was all that was needed, and that it would format as part of that operation.  I have posted in the wrong place earlier. Please delete those in the tutorial. My apologies... Jswoods4
The instructions you just sent were the instructions that I followed. Just to be clear on exactly what I did: Booted up, first area is "Recovery" Selected "Disk Utility" (fourth item in the list presented), and clicked Continue I left-clicked on view, and selected "Show All Devices" I right-clicked on the actual SSD in the Internal drive list I chose "Erase..." I gave my drive a name, chose Format: APFS and Scheme: GUID Partition Map and clicked "Erase" All seemed fine. "Erase process is complete. Click Done to continue" Then I quit out of "Disk Utility", then selected "Install macOS Big Sur", and clicked Continue I agreed with all of the legal stuff, and chose my new drive to be the target MacOS installation drive Then I began the installation of the OS Now, at the 15 minutes remaining mark, I get "An internal error occurred preparing the installer data" error JSWoods4-5.7z
