É possível rodar o Mac apartir de um hd externo?

Olá a todos, gostaria de saber se é possível instalar o Mavericks em um hd externo e depois bootar via hd externo usb o sistema e usa-lo normalmente, independentemente de ter outro sistema instalado no hd interno ?. Obrigado!
