[Monterey 12.3 + OC 0.7.9] Asus Z370 Plus Gaming + Intel Wifi 6 AX200/BT5 + Radeon RX 5700 XT

Recommended Posts

Hi guys!

I want to share my Opencore config that works fine for my setup.

My setup:
- Intel Core i7 8700 (Coffee Lake)
- 32gb Crucial Balistix DDR4 2666
- Asus Z370 Plus Gaming
- Powercolor Radeon RX 5700 XT 8GB Red Dragon
- Intel Wifi 6 AX200* + BT 5.0
- HP SSD NVME EX950 512GB  (Win 11 install)
- Sabrent SSD NVME
RKT343.4 2TB  (Monterey + Win Games)
- Seagate ST2000DM008 2tb SATA (Data)

What works:
- Onboard Audio ALC889 (LILU 1.5.4, LILU 1.5.5)
- Wifi
- Bluetooth 5.0
- Dual video (1st dp port + hdmi port) hardware accelerated
- Audio through RX5700 DP port (LILU 1.5.4, Resizable Bar OFF)
- No bios/uefi corruption after reboot
- Opencanopy
- vt-D, vt-X, virtualization, above 4gb decode... all fine.

SMBIOS:
iMac19,1 platform smbios works fine. Use GenSMBIOS to create yours.

Notes:
- Wifi need Heliport app to manage conections when using itlwm.kext
- Black screen for some seconds after text verbose, no Mac logo display but it goes fine.
- Monterey booting from second NVME
- Disabled "Resizable Bar" in UEFI

To enable "Resizable Bar" edit in config.plist and set:

ResizeAppleGpuBars = 0
ResizeGpuBars = 13

After edit config.plist, reboot and enable resizable bar in uefi.
Dont enable resizable bar before edit config.plist and dont forget to enable it after edit.

ResizeAppleGpuBars = 0  - disable Resizable Bar for MacOS (avoid kernel panic at boot)
ResizeGpuBars = 13  - set 8gb for Radeon RX5700 for other OS.

Alert:
- Black Screen if update LILU above 1.5.5
- DP audio only works with LILU 1.5.4 and resizable bar disabled.
- Onboard audio only works with LILU 1.5.4 and 1.5.5

Versions used:
- Opencore 1.7.9

- Lilu 1.5.4
- AppleALC 1.7.0
- VirtualSMC 1.2.9
- WhateverGreen 1.5.8
- IntelBluetoothFirmware 2.0.1
- IntelMausiEthernet 1.0.7
- itlwm 2.1.0 (not in use)
- AirportItlwm.kext 2.1.0

How install Monterey?

TLDR:
I started creating a VM in VMWare, attaching a physical disk to it and installing big sur (easiest way)
After install it, update to Monterey.
Mount EFI partition and install opencore (use my efi files).
Shutdown VM
Reboot windows
Change boot order in UEFI
Boot to opencore and choose your new Monterey install.

Enjoy! :-)
