No support for Big Sur in broadwell or older?

Recommended Posts

In this page, Big Sur prebuilt images are for skylake and newer

However, I have a broadwell laptop. So I can't use this image

And I have sucessfully installed macOS Catalina in my laptop. Wanted to go to Big Sur Beta. So I tried to make a bootable USB, set up kexts etc

But failed. When I boot from usb, it shows me black background white text. And there is no progress for an hour. So my question is, Are there no support for Broadwell and older CPUs?

u can use this image, but need other efi folder

1. Do u have any plans to make prebuilt olarila image of big sur in broadwell or older systems?

2. My laptop is broadwell. Can I use the premade EFI folder which you made for Haswell?

You can try mine u need to change bios configurationย

BIOS Settings:

ย F10 key

Disable

ย

Fast Boot

Secure Boot

Serial/COM Port

Disable wake on USB

Parallel Port

VT-d (can be enabled if you set DisableIoMapper to YES)

CSM

Thunderbolt(For initial install, as Thunderbolt can cause issues if not setup correctly)

Intel SGX

Intel Platform Trust

CFG Lock (This must be off, otherwise your hack will not boot with CFG-Lock enabled) if you can't find the option then enable AppleXcpmCfgLock under:

ย  ย  ย  Kernel -> Quirks -> AppleXcpmCfgLock=True

Enable

ย

VT-x

Above 4G decoding

Hyper-Threading

Execute Disable Bit

EHCI/XHCI Hand-off

OS type: Windows 8.1/10 UEFI Mode

DVMT Pre-Allocated(iGPU Memory): 64MB

SATA Mode: AHCI

Note: Most of these options may not be present in your firmware, we recommend matching up as closely as possible but don't be too concerned if many of these options are not available in your BIOS.

ย

Save and reboot in UEFI.
