ATI Graphics

Recommended Posts

Hello Artur,

I got a problem running on my ATI card under OSX 10.8. Have stuck to your instructions. AMDRadeonAccelerator.kext I registered 0x68A81002 and ATI5000Controller.kext

When booting, it shows me that he has found the Ati 68A8 but the system he shows me only 3 MB. I've tried everything, GrapgicsEnabler = Yes or No aticonfig = but always without success! OSX Lion, I used an ATI ROM and written in the 0xDeviceIDVendorID ATI5000Controller.kext it worked. But on OSX 10.8 it does not work! Why? What am I doing wrong? Any idea why this is? Can you help me, that would be very nice!

Please forgive me my English is not good! I'm from Germany!

Thanks

i never see any note sandy bridge system working in any version of mac os x with the secondary graphics card working, unless u can disable in bios the intel hd 3000.

if that is u case , the ati must work, if not for now no solution, only works intel hd 3000

Hello Artur,

If I install my ATI RadeonX.kext recognizes beom 68A8 boot but not in the system. I can not use it as the Intel HD 3000 graphics card!

You write that in your manual for the 6xxx series ATIRadeonx3000 responsible, I can delete AMDRadeonAccelerator.kext and ATIRadeonx3000 install under 10.8? In Lion it worked yes!

I have seen that I have no Intel HD 3000, no solution Kombie. It is activated only the ATI Radeon 6850M!

What about a Rome? I had in Lion and it works not only for ML!

Hello ,

I have Acer 7741g laptop i3 350m with ati radeon hd 5470 ,native screen res 1600x900

Have installed mountain lion with unishit , then chimera with sys def mac book pro 8.1 , with dsdt and without .

Dsdt extracted from latest bios with aida64 win7.

Added dual link to dsdt compiled with 0 errors,13 warnings,0 remarks.

Have added force edid and edited custom personalities to match radeon bios decode .

VGA works with acceleration

Hdmi works with acceleration

No LVDS , only black screen or backlight only.

Have also tried chameleon still no lvds.

I think I am close to getting LVDS working but just cant get there.

Have tried everything at this stage, any idea's?

I can upload dsdt , connector out etc if needed ?

Yes my acer only has ati 5470 graphics no intel hd

My card id is 0x68E0 , even added 0x68e0 to amd accelerator and ati5000 but no change.

I did try with mac pro 3.1 sys def but made no difference.

When i added dual link to dsdt I added at GFX0, but I have found others with 6000 series card who added

dual link at PEGP. ?

Wondering now if my dsdt is correct?

I will try with 6.1 sys def and let you know how it goes.

lvds connector edited to this 02000000 40000000 0901 0000 10 00 00 07 buffer=eulemur (ati 5470 is 512mb )

transmitter =10 (based on radeon_bios-decode )

encoder = 00 (based on radeon_bios-decode )

senseid=07 (based on radeon_bios-decode )

features= 0901 ( 01 for backlight ) ?

hot plug= 00 ?

connector = 02000000 lvds ?

control flags= 40000000 ?

Do yor have a preference for chimera or chameleon and if chameleon which version ?

hello

now i'm using enoch r 1970, but for me graphics work is with forced edid

so any chameleon or chimera works good

my interest in chameleon is not the graphics, because if i don't use the forced edid , no graphics in LVDS of notebook

only chameleon don't do the job for graphics in my note

Artur,

Unfortunately no luck with sys def 6.1 or imac 11.2 / 11.3

Must be dsdt dual link problem.

If screen was lower res i think I would have lvds working.

Is there no other fix for dual link besides dsdt edit?

Will have to see if someone can review my dsdt edits , not ready to give up yet.

Thanks.

I am trying to follow your guide to get QE/QI on 10.8, but i have a strange problem. I can add my card info to IOPCIMatch for AMDRadeonAccelerator plist. But my ATI5000controller does not have an info.plist to edit. The contents of it shows AMD5000Controller only. Am i not following your instructions or maybe have the incorrect file?

Hi there. Just built a new PC and installed OS X. Everything is working great apart from my Asus EAH5850 DirectCU, so using the Intel HD4000. I did edit the chameleon boot.plist file with some of the ATI info apart from the frame buffer, and did not edit any of the kexts in the instructions and although it did boot to my log in screen, I could not type or use the mouse and ended up having to reinstall.

Then came across this thread, and was thrown a bit as the ATI5000Controller kext had no info.plist to modify. I do have a MacBook Pro so copied the extensions from there. I have edited all 3 kexts with the Device ID and Vendor ID - 6899 and 1002, and have added the following to my org.chameleon.boot.plist:

AtiConfig

Uakari

GraphicsEnabler

Yes

The modified files are currently on my desktop, and just wanted to check I've done it right before I use them to replace the existing files.

In AMDRadeonAccelerator Kext I have modified the IOPCIMatch under Cypress. It only had 2 entries - 0x68981002 and 0x68991002 (which as I understand it is the one I want), do I need to put mine first, is it fine as it is or would it be worth removing the first one altogether?

Same question for ATI5000Controller, it has several entries and I can see mine there already.

ATISupport.Kext is easy enough as it did not have 0x68991002 so modified that.

Once the kexts are correct, do I just move them into /System/Libraries/Extensions and authenticate to replace the existing ones or would it be better to use something like Kext Utility to run a permissions repair on them afterwards?

Sorry if this is a bit long winded, I just don't want to have to face another reinstall. Thanks in advance.

hi

only have to edit ati5000controller and amdradeonacelerator, nothing else

disable in bios hd 4000

the framebuffer set in boot

AtiConfig=

and test if is the right one for the card

if it is set in org,chameleon.boot.plist

to install the kext use kext wizard

http://Olarila.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=445

when all done and working good

run disk util and repair permissions on the volume

Hi Artur, thanks for the reply.

So I followed your instructions and used Kext Wizard to install the modified ATI5000Controller and AMDRadeonAccelerator Kexts. Copied my modified boot.plist file with the values I put in my last post, restarted and disabled the HD4000 in BIOS and reconnected the graphics card and booted. Now It just boots to the grey Apple fabric background, no login window.

Restarted and added GraphicsEnabler=No to the boot option in Chimera - Same

Rebooted to SafeBoot - Same

Reenabled and reconnected the HD4000 and booted using GraphicsEnabler=No - Same.

Any idea on how to get this to work so I can try and change the Framebuffer to Zonalis? As I was reading about someone else who had luck with that and a 5850.

Edit Always don't think to try the simple things lol (although in my defense it was 6 in the morning when I originally posted this).

It occurred to me on the bus on the way into work that the fabric screen usually shows on a second monitor when the first is in full screen mode, so perhaps the card was not automatically detecting displays and manually outputting the 2nd display signal through DVI which I had my monitor plugged into.

Juts got home, connected my second monitor to the DVI port, and my main monitor to the HDMI port on the 5850 and low and behold, got the log in screen. Booted in and the resolution was set to 800x600 but was able to change this in System Preferences> Display to 1080p. QE seems to be working fine, my menu bar is translucent and Mission Control is working smoothly. Just ran Luxmark to test OpenCL and got a score of 574, so take it that is working as well :D

Thanks for your help Artur, thanks to your original post and response to my questions I now have a fully 100% working Hackintosh.
