VMX disabled in UEFI... sorry maybe I did not saved it properly. Now it works like a charm.

About the second question in my previous post? what about to upgrade to Big Sur? I tried and it with the current config and it was unable to boot anymore... I reinstalled Catalina back.

Does the Pro Art Z490 has CFG lock disabled by default? Guess theres no such setting in asus bios. Where is standard EFI for Pro Art Z490? I cant see it in the original post.

Hello Guys,

 

I still dealing with the upgrade to Big Sur/Monterrey.

I tried a fresh install from Big Sur and Monterrey, but it always give the same error. After the first stage booting the installer, I cannot reach the macos installer… the installer crash after loading something called AppleHIdDriver ( it stucks there for a couple of minutes) and the computer then reboots with a Bios CPU overtemperature alarm.

I tried the raw Olarila image from Monterrey, same result. This image with my current EFI, same result. Update my currente EFI from Catalina with OP 7.5 and then upgrade from Catalina to Monterrey, same result…

What I am missing?

I tried with the Olarila EFI Folder for Comet Lake tried to adapt, but i had no luck. So i tried one from github this one worked. Is it possible for you to generate a DSDT with this EFI i used here? I will put the Send me dump and the EFI in the upload. Please tell me if i have to leave something away in the EFI for proper DSDT.AML or to add from the the Olaria EFI Folder.

dont adapt nothing, just delete old efi and paste new into efi partition, reboot, reset nvram and extract sendme

I did so and didnt adapt anything first in your EFI. But as stated i cant boot with your EFI. While booting with yours i get an instant reboot while the booting process. Thats why i sent you the Efi which was working. Whats the best way to proceed? You will have a look into the EFI with the one i can boot and you tell me what to leave out as you can run your scripts with the dump i sent you. Or you can tell me what i could change in you EFI that i can boot. I use the Mobo in the description here and a 10900K.

I did. With default bios settings you will run settings like fast boot which will never works i guess…My bios was configured ok, when i could boot with another EFI should proof thatbios was configured ok. Please have a look into the other EFI, tell me what to recomfigure or reconfigure it that your scripts work. Dont know what to change that your EFI works.

I did. It doesnt work. please offer some solutions. I cant proceed like that.  I proposed two solutions. I already built two machines i kinda know what i‘m doing at least configuration wise.  But i need your help to proper configure your EFI if you want that i use this that you are able to send me the dsdt. I used bios in default by loading optimised default settings only disabling CSM and your EFI for Comet Lake. And it doesnt boot as already described.

Ok will do tomorrow. I will add debug=0x100 and keepsyms=1

hopefully to see where there is an issue in the boot process. -v (verbose) is set already. Why you didnt set debug=0x100 and keepsyms=1?

Please find the video attached. Bios is loaded optimised defaults with csm disabled. Thats booting your Comet Lake EFI only added debug and keep symsis boot arg

Thanks for your message. The first attempt it didn't boot. I cleaned the boot args of the NVRAM like agdpmod=pikera as i do not have a polaris card. I have a RX 580. After that i could finally boot with your EFI. I did change from imacpro to SMBIOS 20,2. I want to use this SMBIOS. Are you able to create the DSDT.aml as well for iMac 20.2?
