Successful installation macOS Catalina 10.15.6 on laptop DELL Inspiron-I5-10th-G Model ( 3493 ) Ice Lake.

1. macOS Catalina 10.15.6 Olarila or App store copy.

2. you can use ( TINU app ) is easy way for App store Download from here : https://github.com/ITzTravelInTime/TINU

3.or use Olarila 10.15.6 from this web siet.

4. EFI Folder : EFI-DELL 3493 Ice Lake.zip

5. ACPI Folder : ACPI.zip

6. kexts you need From full EFI folder here : ( old link deleted ) go to Update section down.

7. I prepear set Boot to Apple normaly not -v.

8. Not work : wifi ( change to your choice ).

9. Nvidia ( Gforce MX 230 ) working now after some set + web driver.

10. ALC 236 layout=54 working now without ( VoodooHDA.kext ).

11.Trackpad not work use usb mouse.

12 SMBIOS : MacBookAir9,1( 2020 ) Ice Lake 10th prossesor.

13. if you have any problem with boot change SMBIOS kind to = iMac20,1 + SMBIOS = creat + change smbios Gaide to =  false or no from kernel section by Opencore Configuration + after full instilation your Mac change it that choice to befor Smbios to first set.

14. To show full PCI in Computer components use DSDT.aml Olarila Cofee lake + with my original ACPI.

If you have different things of parts delete it from device section by opencore configuration + OFF kext for that parts.

Again a great thanks for your efi because without it i will not be able to see macos on my laptop . I would like to know if  you are able to get graphiics acceleration in your laptop. because i am not able get graphics acceleration in my laptop.

Thanks for your help. My laptop does not have dedicated gpu. It only have Intel integrated graphics(intel UHD 10th generation(Icelake G1))

Welcom, so delet device:  PciRoot(0x0)/Pci(0x1C,0x0)/Pci(0x0,0x0) from your config.plist and save = i put it a patch already with UHD with device NO : PciRoot(0x0)/Pci(0x2,0x0) so UHD work already + put insid boot-args this word ( -wegnoegpu ) copy and past for fast boot for UHD without any problem your boot will be very fast.

Again thanks for the help.Now my boot is very fast but still i am not getting graphics acceleration. In macos graphics is identified as Intel Iris Plus Graphics G1(Icelake) 7 MB . and in system information under graphics section ' kernal extension info: No kext loaded ' is displayed.

@bss111 Firstly, THANK YOU for not just posting this awesome post, that too with all the necessary resources... But much more for personally helping me through the process of installing Catalina on my DELL INSPIRON 3493.

@MaLd0n Thank you for this awesome forum!!!

With this guide, I am able to install Catalina 10.15.7 but there are some things I need help with:

1. Everytime the OS boots, the display goes black at the end of the Apple Logo loading Screen and seems like the laptop is in sleep, and it stays like that for some minutes and then all of a sudden, wakes on the login screen. (I have disabled all Sleep and hibernate related settings in PMSET). (Attaching config.plist)...

2. A Bunch of times, the system got stuck and I had to force reset (attaching some error logs). I tried playing around with the SMBIOS. Ran as Macbook Pro16,2 earlier, currently running as Macbook Air9,1 but with both, the laptop is repeating this behavior.

Other than that, as noted in this guide, TouchPad (using external mouse), LAN & WIFI not working (using TP Link Wifi Dongle and have ordered DW1820A Wifi Card to replace the stock card)...!!! Rest all is sorted & working well!!!

**Using the Config.plist that bss111 uploaded on 19th Oct.
- Changes that I made to the config.plist:
  a. Removed AirportItlwm
  b. Removed Nvidia graphics (since only integrated graphics). Added -wegnoegpu to the boot-args
  
Please help me sort out the 1 & 2 mentioned above...

1. try this acpi + not forget change with your config.plist > ACPI.zip.

2. Macbook Air9,1 is compatible 100% such as usb port ( no change it ).

3. kind TouchPad is new so not compatible ( i have the same problem ).

Try and tell us.

1. Does graphics work ? as I also suffer black screen but don't know whether graphics work as I thought I force shutdown as some error ?

- YES my laptop every things work.

2. Can you make for asus too ?

- Yes use Run.me APP for your ASUS laptop to extrct all your ACPI.

- your ASUS toutchpad i dont know wich kind.

- Macbook Air9,1 is compatible 100% with most new laptop, if you have old ASUS change to old version of MacbookAir8.x or older.

Hey good people...

I realised that the boot up 3 minutes black screen is caused by the plugged in USB devices (wifi & bluetooth mouse) and the verbose mode showed that clearly... So most of the times, when I boot up disconnecting the USB devices, it doesn't sleep for 3 minutes, rather comes straight to the login screen. (although, some times, it still does go black, so I still have some figuring out to do).
Addtionally, each time the screen goes black due to USB devices, this line shows in the log: ioconsoleusers gioscreenlockstate 3 ---->>>> 
This changes the pmset hibernatemode property to 3 (which I reset to 0 manually)
Is there a way to force gioscreenlockstate as 0 during the boot? that might solve this problem! (Just thinking out loud)

Other than that:
I installed the Realtek RTL8100 kext from Meize and the LAN is working now. Attaching the kext in case anyone needs it! RealtekRTL8100.kext.zip

My verbose boot log shows so many things I am not even sure I need in the Kernel. Attaching the log file if someone can please see what can be completely removed to quicken up the boot up! VerboseLog.zip

Trackpad on our laptop is DELL0978 (In Windows it shows as HID-TrackPad)... Have tried a couple of kexts but no success yet. Will keep you guys posted if there is any breakthrough!

 

Lastly, I found a post on the internet while searching. Someone claiming to have installed Catalina and have a working Trackpad on the Dell 3493... But no EFI or Kexts, just images... Here is the link:

 1. change your mac to RW.

2. use @MaLd0n patch > NvidiaPatcher.command.zip

3. after restart use > nvidia-update.command.zip

4. add your device before steps 1 & 2 such as > PciRoot(0x0)/Pci(0x1C,0x0)/Pci(0x0,0x0)

How is this possible just after restart I lost my graphic acceleration and got the same white screen
